Usually the comments are dreck, but in this instance there are a few with value. A terrific question: Why is it assumed that the orthodox man has the right to retain his seat and the secular Jewish woman is expected to move? I mean, beyond the obvious sexism and presumed male dominance? Well, here’s something to think about. Orthodoxy is presumed to be more authentic than Conservative, Reform or secular Judaism; the requirements of the Orthodox have standing, but the requirements of others, not being “Torah true,” have no standing. So it is that everyone else has to dance to the Orthodox male tune. How ironic that the national air carrier of a once proudly secular, socialistic state has been reduced to a sniveling, pusillanimous justifier of retrograde Orthodox mishegas. —Rabbi Kerry Baker
