In the interest of completeness, Tom and Jean Yawkey were not only racists, but also anti-Semites. I find it hard to understand or to share the current resurgence of interest in Red Sox baseball. They lost so spectacularly for so many years, and failed to win the World Series for so long, not because of the Curse if the Bambino; they lost because God was visiting judgment upon them, only relenting when they started to play Jacoby Ellsbury, the greatest Native American phenom since Jim Thorpe and “Chief” Bender.
