A mistake? Really? Misconstruing, erasing, marginalizing, forgetting things Jewish and things Israeli are common and global. When schools in Austin persist in scheduling tests and events on the High Holidays, even though AISD sends out an annual reminder, and Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are noted on just about every calendar printed, it’s hard to conclude this is a simple mistake. Israel is the only country out of the total of nearly 200 countries in the world to be repeatedly misidentified, erased or misrepresented. Is this a simple mistake or there something more? It gives one pause, to be sure. —Rabbi Kerry Baker
